Damian Toledo, Jr., 19, of Highwood, and Shawn Sawko, 19, of North Chicago.

Two men were charged with beating, strangled and robbing a victim who was trying to buy high-end shoes in Highland Park, police said.

Damian Toledo, Jr., 19, of the 600 block of Sheridan Road in Highwood, and Shawn Sawko, 19, of the 1400 block of Glen Drive in North Chicago, were both charged with one count of robbery and one count of aggravated battery.

The Highland Park Police Department responded around 10:09 p.m. July 18 to the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road for a report of an attempted robbery.

Police officers learned that a transaction was going scheduled to take place at the location for the sale of a pair of Yeezy sneakers.

The buyer used an online app to arrange a meetup with Toledo and Sawko in the parking lot of a business.

The two suspects did not actually have the shoes, and instead punched the victim in the face and strangled him, police said.
