Matthew P. Kus, 32, of McHenry.

A McHenry man has been sentenced to four years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing images of child pornography on his phone.

Matthew P. Kus, 32, of the 3200 block of Vista Terrace in McHenry, pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Kus’ vehicle on July 9, 2019.

Deputies found 15-100 grams of ecstasy and less than 15 grams of cocaine in the man’s possession, court documents show.

Prosecutors said that Kus also consented to a search of his cell phone and deputies found child pornography on it.

Kus took a negotiated plea deal and pleaded guilty in front of McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt.

Wilbrandt sentenced Kus on Thursday to three years in prison for the child pornography charge and one year in prison for the drug charge.
