A home in Union is uninhabitable after a fire fully engulfed the rear of the residence before spreading throughout the structure, officials said.
The Union Fire Protection District responded around 2:29 a.m. Friday to the 9900 block of Stacy Lane in Union, which is east of Marengo, for a report of a structure fire.
Union Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Michael Paige said that firefighters arrived to find the rear of the home engulfed in flames.
The blaze quickly spread and the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated to bring water trucks to the scene as there are no fire hydrants in the neighborhood.
The fire damaged the screened-in porch, deck, family room, kitchen and dining room. The home was declared uninhabitable.
At least 10 fire departments responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by an electrical fault with a light.
The home sustained between $350,000 and $400,000 in damage.
