A woman slashed her boyfriend in the head with a machete, seriously injuring him, after he urinated the bed at their Deer Park home, police said.

Bophanary Om, 39, of the 22500 block of West Lake Cook Road in Deer Park, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of domestic battery.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:30 p.m. Sunday to the 22500 block of West Lake Cook Road in Deer Park for a report of a domestic battery in progress.

Sheriff’s deputies met with the victim, a 39-year-old man, who resides at the residence. The victim had a serious wound to his head.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a preliminary investigation showed that Om, who is the victim’s girlfriend, resides at the same residence.

She became upset that her boyfriend urinated in the bed, Covelli said.

“She responded by retrieving a machete and striking the victim on the head with the machete,” he added.

The victim sustained a serious slash wound to his head and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he is expected to recover.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges against Om, who was transported to the Lake County jail.

She remains held on a $30,000 bond and will appear in court on August 25.
