Surveillance photos captured the moment three suspects fled through an apartment complex in Zion after shooting at a man they tried to carjack.

The Zion Police Department responded around 6 p.m. July 20 to the 2200 block of Hebron Avenue for a report of an attempted vehicular hijacking.

Zion Police Department Lt. Eric Barden told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that three offenders, one armed with a handgun, attempted to carjack a victim as he was leaving the park district garage.

The victim attempted to drive away from the offenders and one of them fired a shot at the victim, striking his car.

The victim was uninjured but shaken, Barden said. The three offenders fled the scene on foot and were captured on surveillance camera.

The Zion Police Department released the photos on social media and are asking the community’s assistance in identifying the suspects.
