A police officer and a Good Samaritan helped rescue a 37-year-old unconscious man from the Fox River in Algonquin Friday evening.
The Algonquin Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 7:17 p.m. Friday to the area of Route 62 and the Fox River for a water rescue.
Algonquin Police Department Sgt. James Sowizrol said that officers discovered an unconscious man in the water.
A citizen bystander and an Algonquin police officer were able to pull the victim, identified as a 37-year-old Algonquin man, out of the water.
He was treated by paramedics, who performed CPR, and transported him to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital in serious condition.
An investigation is pending but it is not believed that foul play was involved in the incident, Sowizrol said.
