Jamar Moore, 33, of Chicago.

A Chicago man was arrested after he allegedly stole a landscaping truck and trailer in Lake Forest and then fled on foot from police who spotted him in Highland Park.

Jamar Moore, 33, of the 6100 block of South Bishop Street in Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, theft over $10,000, and driving while license revoked.

The Lake Forest Police Department responded around 2:57 p.m. August 4 to the 600 block of Burton Drive for a report of a stolen vehicle.

Employees of Raymond Lawn Services told police that their red Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck and Wells Cargo trailer, which had landscape equipment inside, had been stolen while parked at a job site.

Lake Forest police issued a local “be on the lookout” for the vehicle and Highland Park police spotted the vehicle driving southbound on Route 41 exiting at Clavey Road.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver stopped but then fled from the vehicle.

A search of the area was conducted and Moore was found hiding in some weeds nearby, police said.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Lake Forest Public Safety Building for questioning.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges against the man, who was ordered held in the Lake County jail on a $50,000 bond.

Moore has since been released from jail after posting 10% of his bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on August 26.
