A Zion man was arrested by police on charges that he raped a young girl under the age of 13 and a teen girl both on numerous occasions.
Juan J. Barrios-Carmona, 38, of 3100 block of Gabriel Avenue in Zion, was charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
An arrest warrant filed in Lake County court alleges that Barrios-Carmona raped a girl, who was under the age of 13, on three separate occasions dating back to around 2016.
The warrant alleges that Barrios-Carmona also committed an act of sexual penetration with a girl, who was between the age of 13 and 17, on two separate occasions.
The arrest warrant was signed by a judge following an investigation by the Zion Police Department.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team approached Barrios-Carmona’s residence in the 3100 block of Gabriel Avenue in Zion on Friday.
Barrios-Carmona saw the deputies and attempted to flee out of a back door and was immediately greeted by the warrants deputies, Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt Christopher Covelli said.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County jail where he remains held on a $500,000 bond.
Barrios-Carmona will appear in court on August 18 for a preliminary hearing.
