Police are asking for the public’s help in locating an 81-year-old man who is endangered. He was reported to be in Zion and last seen in Crystal Lake.

The Inverness Police Department took a report regarding Howard B. Hughes, 81, who was last seen leaving his residence around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He was last heard from at 6 p.m. Tuesday and said that he was leaving the Marathon gas station, 2803 Sheridan Road in Zion.

The Illinois State Police has activated an Endangered Missing Person Advisory for Hughes.

He is 5-foot-9, weighs 135 pounds, has gray hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a burgundy hat, a blue long sleeve t-shirt, blue pants and tan shoes.

Hughes was driving a blue 2001 BMW 330ZI convertible with Illinois license plate LBH12. He has a condition that places him in danger, police said.

Hughes’ daughter said that her father made a purchase at a business near Route 31 and Route 176 in Crystal Lake at 2:51 a.m. Wednesday.
