The coroner’s office has released the identity of a 63-year-old Gurnee man who died in a motorcycle crash in Old Mill Creek last month.

An autopsy showed Michael P. Presti, 63, of Gurnee, died on August 22 from numerous blunt force trauma injuries, according to Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Newport Township Fire Protection District responded around 8:05 p.m. August 22 to the area of Hunt Club Road and Millburn Road in Old Mill Creek for a vehicle crash.

Sheriff’s deputies found a 2014 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle that crashed on the west side of the roadway south of the roundabout.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a 63-year-old Gurnee man, identified as Presti, was driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Hunt Club Road south of Millburn Road.

For an unknown reason, Presti drove off the roadway and was ejected from his motorcycle.

He sustained significant injuries after being ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene, Covelli said.

An obituary said that Presti leaves behind two children, two sisters and two brothers.

“He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and hunting with his best friend Jeff. Services for Mike were private and have already been held,” the obituary said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit and Lake County Coroner’s Office.
