Police are searching for a man that was armed with a gun and robbed a Dollar General store in Zion Tuesday evening.
The Zion Police Department responded around 7 p.m. Tuesday to the Dollar General, 3341 Sheridan Road in Zion, for a report of an armed robbery.
Police said that an offender display and threatened the clerk with a handgun. He demanded all of the money from the cash register.
The gunman also demanded money from the safe but the employee did not have access to the safe and the offender left.
The offender, who is described as a black male in his early 20s, fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money.
He was described as being approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black Adidas sweatpants with a white line down the legs, white shoes, and sunglasses.
The gun appeared to have a silver-colored slide and black frame. No one was injured in the robbery.
