A fire that destroyed nearly a dozen vehicles in Woodstock Friday is under investigation, fire officials.

The Woodstock Fire Rescue District responded around 2:30 p.m. Friday to the 13000 block of Pleasant Valley Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a report of a vehicle fire.

Woodstock Fire Rescue District Captain Brendan Parker said that the fire occurred on private property and no one was injured.

Water tenders from Union and Huntley fire departments were also called to the scene because there were no fire hydrants in the area.

All 10 vehicles involved were a total loss and the fire also extended into a cornfield. The blaze began from burning brush and extended to the cars, Parker said.

Parker warned that conditions are dry and the fire department would not recommend residents to burn.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
