A naked and combative man who tried breaking into a Lake Bluff home had to be chased, tased and then tackled by several officers in order to be taken into custody, police said.

Michael S. Gulson, 24, of the 200 block of Ascot Court in Lake Bluff, was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and resisting a peace officer,

The Lake Bluff Police Department responded around 8:42 p.m. August 29 to the 300 block of Green Bay Road for a report of an attempted burglary in progress.

Officers were told that a naked man attempted to gain entry to the house and then was spotted running in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Officers arrived and the man, identified as Gulson, refused commands, flailed his arms, and acted unpredictably while fleeing, according to Lake Bluff police.

Gulson briefly lied down on his back before jumping the fence to escape a backyard and then being tased by an officer.

He got up and continued running up and down the road before being tackled by three police officers.

Gulson later told officers a combination of substances he took reacted badly together, leading him to take off his clothing after becoming hot.

He also said that he believed “all cars were out to get him” and he was attempting to return to his childhood home, police said.

Gulson was released on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond and will appear in court on September 25 for an arraignment hearing.
