Lake County sheriff’s canine Dax helped locate a wanted man who was hiding underneath a kid’s pool after he fled from deputies near Lake Villa.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a car in the 37400 block of Route 59 in unincorporated Lake Villa Thursday evening.

The driver, who was wanted on a no-bond warrant by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, fled from the car.

The suspect ran away on foot and Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy John Forlenza and his partner, canine Dax, were called to assist.

Dax and Deputy Forlenza began tracking the man for approximately a quarter-mile. Dax alerted to a children’s pool in the backyard of a home.

The offender was located hiding underneath the children’s pool and deputies placed him into custody.

Police said that the suspect now faces additional charges in Illinois for resisting arrest, driving under the influence, and other offenses.
