Two men were killed and two others were hospitalized, including one with serious injuries, following a single-vehicle crash near Round Lake on Sunday.

The Round Lake Police Department and Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 3:30 a.m. Sunday to the area of Route 134 and Main Street in Round Lake.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the crash involved a single-vehicle into a wooded area.

Four people were inside the vehicle. Two of the occupants, a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene, Cooper said.

Another occupant was flown by a medical helicopter to a hospital for treatment with serious injuries. Their current condition was not released.

A fourth occupant in the car was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday on the 30-year-old man, who was a Round Lake Beach resident, and the 34-year-old man, who was a Mundelein resident, Cooper said.

The Round Lake Police Department did not respond to requests for comment on the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) and Round Lake Police Department.
