A Wisconsin man has been arrested on a warrant for a 2019 home invasion where he — along with three other suspects — allegedly battered and injured two people in Woodstock.
Jimmy D. Carey, 44, of the 1400 block of Marquette Street in Racine, Wisconsin, was charged with one count of home invasion causing injury, a Class X felony.
The incident happened on April 7, 2019, in the 1900 block of Sheila Street in Woodstock, according to a criminal complaint filed by a Woodstock police detective.
Jimmy Carey, along with Donley M. Carey, Roger L. Gardner Jr., and Andrea Varnado, entered the home and began attacking the victims.
Jimmy Carey is accused of punching one of the victims in the face with his fist and kicking him in the head and body.
Jimmy Carey is also accused of punching a 17-year-old in the face with his fist, according to court documents. Gardner allegedly threatened to shoot one of the victims during the attack, according to police.
Police at the time said that one of the victims was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Donley Carey, Gardner, and Varnado accepted plea deals from prosecutors in 2019 and were sentenced to conditional discharge.
Jimmy Carey was the last one to be taken into custody in McHenry County because he had been in a Wisconsin prison until this month.
Woodstock Police Chief John Lieb at the time said that the suspects were all known to the targeted victim and the incident was not a random act.
He was taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday and he remains held in the McHenry County jail on a $150,000 bond.
