Police said that no charges will be filed after a man pepper-sprayed a woman’s unleashed dog at a park in Lake Zurich last week.

The incident occurred on October 5 at Manor Park, which is located near Route 12 and Miller Road in Lake Zurich.

Lake Zurich Deputy Police Chief David Anderson said that a woman had her dog off-leash in the park.

The dog went up to a leashed dog aggressively and the dog owner pepper-sprayed the unleashed dog.

The unleashed dog went back to the female owner, who inhaled some residual pepper spray from the dog, Anderson said.

Both dogs were unharmed. The woman was evaluated at the scene by paramedics with the Lake Zurich Fire Department.

In a Facebook post, the woman posted a photo of the man involved and asked for help in identifying him.

“He maced my dog and me at a park in Lake Zurich today. He laughed as my dog yelped in pain,” she said, adding that she took her dog to the veterinarian to be evaluated.

Anderson said that no charges will be filed against anyone involved and the case has since been closed.
