A McHenry man is facing felony charges after he allegedly struck a pregnant woman in the face and strangled her during a domestic disturbance.
Oscar A. Navarro-Guevara, 27, of the 1900 block of North Orleans Street in McHenry, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery on a pregnant or handicapped person, a Class 3 felony, and two counts of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
The McHenry Police Department arrested Navarro-Guevara on Sunday around 2:25 p.m., according to court documents.
Navarro-Guevara is accused of striking a woman, who is pregnant, in the face with an open hand.
Court documents also say that he pulled the victim’s hair and strangled her by placing his hands around her neck.
Navarro-Guevara was transported to the McHenry County jail where he remains held on a $15,000 bond.
If Navarro-Guevara is able to post bail, he will be required to not have any contact with the victim, who is a household member of his.
Navarro-Guevara will appear in court again on November 19 for a preliminary hearing.
