Police are searching for a man who committed a daytime armed robbery at a jewelry store in Libertyville and got away with merchandise valued at approximately $150,000.

The Libertyville Police Department responded around 11:24 a.m. Friday to Rolland’s Jewelers, 500 North Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, for a report of a robbery.

Employees told officers that a man entered the business and looked at jewelry for approximately 30 minutes, Libertyville Police Department Lt. Matt Goze said.

The man then showed the employee a note which implied he had a gun. He took the items that he was looking at and left the business, Goze said.

The jewelry is valued at approximately $150,000. The suspect exited Rolland’s Jewelers, fled westbound on Cook Avenue and got into a black four-door vehicle.

The vehicle was last seen driving south on Brainerd Avenue from Cook Avenue.

The man was last seen wearing a white and gray baseball hat, blue hooded sweatshirt with a white t-shirt under it, blue jeans and tan or brown boots.

The robbery is still under investigation and anyone who has information is asked to call the Libertyville Police Department’s non-emergency number at 847-362-8310.
