A Harvard man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a female family member who was under the age of 13, police said.
Nicholas A. Acevedo, 39, of the 0-100 block of North Ayer Street in Harvard, was charged with criminal sexual assault of a family member, a Class 1 felony, and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Acevedo sexually penetrated a girl, who was between the age of 13-17, in October 2019.
The complaint says that the victim is a family member of Acevedo and that the man also had sexual contact with her breast during the assault.
A separate criminal complaint alleges that Acevedo sexually abused the victim when she was under 13 years old in May 2018.
The Harvard Police Department conducted the investigation and a McHenry County judge signed off an arrest warrant for Acevedo on October 16. He was taken into custody on October 22.
Acevedo remains held in the McHenry County jail on a $120,000 bond and will appear in court on November 12 for a hearing to increase bond, court records show.
