A couple is facing charges including child endangerment after police seized over 500 cannabis plants that were growing inside their Crystal Lake home.

Meixia Feng, 37, and Shuigen Wang, 41, both of the 1600 block of Rolling Hills Drive, were charged with producing cannabis plants, a Class 1 felony, and causing a child to be endangered, a Class A misdemeanor.

The Crystal Lake Police Department arrested the two around on Tuesday, according to court documents.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges that officers recovered more than 500 cannabis sativa plants inside their residence on Rolling Hills Drive in Crystal Lake. 

Police allege that the production of cannabis plants endangered the life and health of their three children, who are under the age of 18, according to the complaint.

A motion filed by McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Brette Dunbar said that officers also located $7,200 in U.S. cash along with other foreign currency. Officers also located numerous valuable watches.

Feng and Wang are being held in the McHenry County jail on a $50,000 bond each. They are both scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
