No injuries were reported after authorities say a fire pit caused the rear of a Round Lake Park home to catch on fire Friday evening.

The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District and Round Lake Park Police Department responded around 8:38 p.m. Friday to the 500 block of Arbor Drive in Round Lake Park for a report of a structure fire.

Firefighters arrived and found heavy flames showing from the home and began working to extinguish the fire.

Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a neighbor called 911 after noticing the fire.

Four people were inside the residence and all of them evacuated safely, Filenko said. No injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation indicated a fire pit may have caused the rear of the house to ignite. The flames then spread to the roof.
