A Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital employee was arrested after he allegedly stole personal items and credit cards from his fellow employees at the hospital, police said.
Cristian J. Montejano, 26, of the 500 block of Poplar Street in Waukegan, was charged with two counts of unlawful use of credit cards, two counts of identity theft and two counts of theft by deception.
Police officers spotted Montejano driving near Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, 1000 North Westmoreland Road in Lake Forest, on November 2.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle as they knew he had active arrest warrants, according to police officials.
The warrants stemmed from an investigation into thefts that had taken place at the hospital, where Montejano was an employee.
Montejano is accused of stealing personal items from the employee locker room and the break rooms, according to the Lake Forest Police Department.
Officers took Montejano into custody during the traffic stop and he is also facing additional charges including driving on a revoked license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Montejano was transported to the Lake Forest Public Safety Building for further investigation and held overnight pending a bond court hearing.
A judge set his bond at $30,000 and he was transported to the Lake County jail where he was released after posting bail.
It is unclear what type of job Montejano held at the hospital or if he has been fired yet. Lake and McHenry County Scanner has reached out to Northwestern Medicine for further information.
