Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed a man in his 60s in Lake Forest and fled the scene.

The Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Forest Fire Department responded around 10:47 a.m. Thursday to 500 block of North Mayflower Road for a report of a vehicle crash.

Officers found a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle near the intersection of North Mayflower Road and Rosemary Road.

The suspect vehicle, identified as a white two-door Ford F-150 pickup truck, fled the scene southbound on Mayflower Road.

Lake Forest Police Department Sgt. Kevin Zelk said the victim was a male in his 60s. He died as a result of his injuries.

The truck’s passenger-side mirror fell off during the impact and landed on the grass alongside the road, Zelk said.

“We are asking for the public’s help in locating the offending truck & driver,” police said.

Officers obtained photos from a residential surveillance camera that show the truck near the scene of the crime.
