Police are searching for a gunman who shot a man multiple times, leaving him critically injured in front of a house in Gages Lake Saturday afternoon.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Grayslake Fire Protection District responded around 2 p.m. Saturday to the 33800 block of North Oak Street in Gages Lake for a report of shots fired.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene within two minutes and located a 36-year-old man, who resides in the 33800 block of North Oak Street, wounded.

The first responding sheriff’s deputies performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

The man was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with critical injuries. It was determined the man was struck by multiple gunshots.

A preliminary investigation shows a man arrived and approached the victim, who was standing outside in front of his home.

The offender fired shots toward the man several times and then fled on foot. He then entered a vehicle and fled from the scene.

“Based on the information obtained by sheriff’s detectives, it does not appear this was a random attack,” Covelli said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call detectives at 847-377-4250.
