Shawn M. Davy, 37, of Fox River Grove.

A Fox River Grove man was charged with child pornography after police say he solicited a child on a dating application and received sexually explicit images.

Shawn M. Davy, 37, of the 2100 block of Evergreen Avenue in Fox River Grove, was charged with three counts of solicitation of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography.

An investigation was launched in February by the Genoa Police Department and they contacted the Illinois Attorney General’s Office for assistance.

The suspect in the investigation, identified as Davy, was residing in unincorporated Fox River Grove so the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office joined the investigation.

The sheriff’s office said that Davy messaged a juvenile victim on a dating application and began soliciting images from the victim.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Attorney General’s Office and Genoa Police Department executed a search warrant at Davy’s residence Wednesday morning.

Sheriff’s officials said the investigation and execution of the search warrant led to probable cause to charge Davy.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Davy knowingly solicited images of a child’s genitals who he knew or reasonably should have known was under the age of 18.

He was ordered held in the McHenry County jail on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The investigation remains open and anyone with information should contact the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 815-334-4750.
