Lake County Sheriff’s Canine Dax helped track down a woman who stabbed someone in Round Lake Tuesday evening, police said.

The Round Lake Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday evening to the 1300 block of Oxford Lane in Round Lake.

The suspect, identified as Arlene Nechistak, 33, allegedly stabbed a person and fled the scene before officers arrived, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy John Forlenza and canine Dax responded. Dax picked up the scent of the offender and tracked for approximately a quarter-mile.

Nechistak was found hiding behind a bush and she was taken into custody without further incident, Covelli said.
