Two people were killed and a third person suffered life-threatening injuries after two cars crashed Wednesday morning in Woodstock.
The Woodstock Fire and Rescue District and the Woodstock Police Department responded around 6:33 a.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Route 14 and Route 47.
Emergency crews found a two-vehicles that had collided and drove off the roadway. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
The Woodstock Fire and Rescue District said two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third victim was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley with life-threatening injuries.
The Woodstock Police Department and Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) were at the scene conducting a crash investigation.
All traffic through the intersection was shut down, police said. The roadway remains closed as of 11 a.m. Wednesday and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Police are expected to release additional information as it becomes available.
