Authorities have identified the 16-year-old boy and 27-year-old man who were both fatally shot during a shooting that left two others injured Tuesday evening in Zion.

An autopsy showed that Kanye Marshall, 16, and Rodney Lovelace, 27, both of Zion, died of injuries sustained from gunshot wounds, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.

The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire Rescue Department responded around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the area of 28th Street and Galilee Avenue for a shooting.

Officers found one victim who had been shot and paramedics transported him to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, according to Zion Police Department Lt. Tony Velardi.

The Waukegan Police Department contacted the Zion Police Department reporting that three other victims from the shooting were self-transported to Vista Medical Center East.

Marshall and Lovelace were later pronounced dead at the hospital, Velardi said. A 28-year-old man remains in critical condition.

The Lake County Major Crime Task Force was activated to assist the Zion Police Department detectives with the investigation, Velardi said.

No additional information has been released by police and it is unknown if any suspects are in custody.

The case remains under investigation by the Zion Police Department, Lake County Major Crime Task Force and Lake County Coroner’s Office.
