Police say a man robbed a 7-Eleven store in Lake Zurich at knifepoint and fled from officers who tried to chase him on Friday.
The Lake Zurich Police Department responded around 9:49 p.m. Friday to the 7-Eleven, 600 East Route 22, for a report of an armed robbery.
Lake Zurich Deputy Police Chief David Anderson said a male suspect entered the store wearing a black ski mask and a black trench coat.
The suspect brandished a knife and threatened two employees. He demanded they open the cash register.
Anderson said the suspect took an unknown amount of cash from the register along with Newport cigarettes.
The suspect fled the 7-Eleven in a white four-door passenger vehicle.
Officers located the suspect’s vehicle as it was leaving the store and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled from officers.
Officers pursued the vehicle and lost sight of it on southbound Quentin Road near Route 12, Anderson said.
The Lake Zurich Police Department is requesting that anyone with information to contact their Criminal Investigations Division at 847-719-1695.
