A child has been found safe in Indiana and his biological parents were arrested for kidnapping him during a Christmas gathering at a Mundelein home, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon that they were attempting to locate 8-year-old Enrique Sanchez.

Enrique was attending a family Christmas gathering held in the 26400 block of North Route 83 in unincorporated Mundelein on Friday.

Holly A. Adcox, 27, who is Enrique’s biological mother, does not have legal custody of the boy but was attending the family party, the sheriff’s office said.

Adcox took Enrique around 8 p.m. despite not having permission to take the boy, whose grandmother has held legal guardianship of him since he was a 1-year-old.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said additional information was obtained on Saturday indicating Enrique’s biological father, Federico E. Sanchez, 30, and Adcox both planned on abducting and fleeing with Enrique.

“This evening, Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives developed information indicating Holly, Federico, and Enrique were likely in the area of Sellersburg, Indiana,” Covelli said Saturday evening.

Lake County sheriff’s detectives contacted the local police department in that area and requested they check area hotels.

The local police department located the Toyota Camry and found the three in a hotel room.

Covelli said that Enrique is safe and being held in protective custody until his legal guardians arrive.

Adcox and Sanchez were arrested and are being held on kidnapping charges in Clark County, Indiana.

“The Lake County Sheriff’s Office thanks the community for all of the social media shares in an attempt to locate Enrique,” officials said.

An Amber Alert was not issued when the boy went missing because police did not have any evidence he was in imminent danger.
