A Volo man was arrested earlier this month after investigators found that he distributed images of child pornography, according to court records.
Richard A. Murphey, 54, of the 400 block of Terra Springs Circle in Volo, was charged with three counts of child pornography.
A criminal complaint filed in Lake County court alleges Murphey disseminated three images of a child under the age of 13.
The images depicted the nude genitals of the child in a lewd manner, according to the complaint.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team arrested Murphey at his residence in the 400 block of Terra Springs Circle in Volo on December 14.
The charges were obtained by Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Investigators. The criminal complaint said that the offense occurred on June 12.
A Lake County judge ordered Murphey held in the Lake County jail on a $750,000 bond. He has since posted $75,000 bail and has been released.
A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place on January 15.
