A Harvard man was arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a family member and injured her earlier this month, according to court records.
Mardoqueo Vasquez-Ortiz, 36, of the 100 block of West Front Street in Harvard, was charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault, three counts of sexual relations within families and two counts of domestic battery.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Vasquez-Ortiz assaulted the victim on January 1.
The complaint, filed by a Harvard Police Department detective, says that Vasquez-Ortiz committed several acts of sexual penetration on the victim.
Vasquez-Ortiz threw the victim to the ground and injured her leg and wrist during the assault, according to the complaint, which added that the victim is a family member of the suspect.
Officers arrested Vasquez-Ortiz on Saturday and transported him to the McHenry County jail.
A McHenry County judge ordered the man held in jail on a $150,000 bond. He would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.
If Vasquez-Ortiz, who has no prior criminal history, is able to post bail, he will be required to surrender his passport and have no contact with the victim, according to court records.
A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning and a judge will set the date for a preliminary hearing.
