A McHenry man has been charged with committing seven burglaries during a spree in McHenry in August, court records allege.
Jacob R. Caso, 24, of the 1000 block of North Front Street in McHenry, was charged with eight counts of burglary, one count of theft and one count of criminal trespass to vehicle.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Caso entered five vehicles with the intent to commit theft on August 7.
He entered a 2020 Ford in the 3900 block of Boone Creek Circle in McHenry; a 2001 Volkswagen in the 2100 block Olde Mill Lane in McHenry; a 2012 Nissan in the 2100 block of Graue Mill Court in McHenry; a 2017 Subaru Forester in 4000 block of Landings in McHenry; a 2007 Chevrolet in the 3900 block of Boone Creek Circle in McHenry.
A few weeks later on August 28, he entered a 2010 Cadillac in the driveway of the 3400 block of Venice in McHenry and took $20 from it.
He then entered a detached garage in the 3600 block of West John Street in McHenry. He then entered a 2018 Chevrolet that was parked in the garage.
The complaint alleges he stole $5 in cash, a LED Mag-Lite flashlight and other miscellaneous items that had a total value of less than $500 from the Chevrolet.
A judge appointed Caso a public defender and initially set the man’s bond at $50,000. Caso was later released on a recognizance bond with the condition that he be transferred to a halfway house in Woodstock.
Caso is scheduled to appear in court again on February 19 for an arraignment hearing.
