A 27-year-old man was killed after a two-vehicle crash that left both vehicles with substantial damage on Route 47 in Huntley Monday morning.

The Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 5:25 a.m. Monday to Route 47 near Regency Square Parkway for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Officers arrived and found a crash involving a 1999 Acura TL and a 2016 GMC Sierra north of the intersections in the southbound lanes.

Huntley Deputy Police Chief Michael Klunk said a preliminary investigation revealed that the Acura was traveling northbound on Route 47.

The GMC was traveling southbound when the Acura collided with it, Klunk said.

The driver and sole occupant of the GMC was transported to the Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.

The driver and sole occupant of the Acura, a 27-year-old man from Carpentersville, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southbound Route 47 between Regency Square Parkway and Kreutzer Road was closed for several hours while crash investigators responded.

The crash remains under further investigation by the Huntley Police Department, Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Kane County Coronerโ€™s Office.
