A mother was arrested after she stabbed and seriously injured her adult son during a dispute near Marengo on Sunday, police said.
Kandis S. Rinn, 42, of the 19000 block of Ridge Lane in Marengo, was charged with aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony, and aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony.
McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Creighton said sheriff’s deputies responded to Rinn’s residence in the 19000 block of Ridge Lane in unincorporated Marengo early Sunday morning.
A domestic incident between Rinn and her adult son escalated when Rinn stabbed the man with a knife, Creighton said.
The victim was treated by paramedics and flown by medical helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford with serious injuries in stable condition.
Police believe alcohol was a factor and they said it was an isolated incident.
Deputies arrested Rinn and transported her to the McHenry County jail where she remains held on a $75,000 bond. She will have to post $7,500 cash to be released on bail.
Rinn, who was appointed a public defender, is scheduled to appear in court on March 3 for a bond hearing.
