A woman was lucky to only have non-life-threatening injuries after she drove off the road and her car become wrapped around a tree in Lake Bluff on Saturday.
The Lake Bluff Fire Department and Lake Bluff Police Department responded around 6:02 a.m. Saturday to Route 41 south of Route 176 for a rollover vehicle crash.
Lake Bluff Deputy Police Chief Matthew Smizinski said the crash involved a single vehicle that had rolled over.
The vehicle had been traveling northbound on Route 41 when the driver swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway, Smizinski said.
The vehicle crashed into a tree line, rolled over and became entangled in the trees. The Lake Forest Fire Department was also called to the scene.
The driver, who was conscious and breathing, was trapped inside the heavily-damaged vehicle for around 45 minutes while firefighters worked to extricate her.
Paramedics transported the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, to Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A tow truck was called to remove the vehicle and the scene was cleared by around 7:30 a.m. No citations were issued.
