Police are warning residents in Cary after surveillance video caught three suspects, at least one who was armed holding a gun, burglarizing vehicles and a home garage early Thursday morning.
The Cary Police Department responded to a residence in the Sterling Ridge subdivision off of Silver Lake Road Thursday for a delayed report of a criminal trespass to a vehicle and garage.
Cary Deputy Police Chief Scott Naydenoff said that the resident called and reported finding their garage door and vehicle doors open, which caused them to review video footage from their home surveillance system.
The video showed three subjects exited a vehicle parked in the roadway in front of their residence around 12:55 a.m. Thursday.
The suspects entered an unlocked vehicle in the driveway and used the garage door opener from the unlocked vehicle to gain access to the attached garage.
Once the garage door was open, two subjects entered the attached garage and the vehicle parked inside the garage, Naydenoff said.
In reviewing the video footage, officers saw one of the subjects who entered the attached garage carrying what appeared to be a handgun.
One suspect can also be seen attempting to open the door of a vehicle parked across the street in another driveway.
The suspects were all wearing dark-colored clothing and appeared to be wearing gloves and face coverings, Naydenoff said.
The Cary Police Department asks anyone with information regarding this incident or a similar incident to contact the Investigations Section at 847-639-2341.
The Cary Police Department said they also encourage residents to report suspicious activity by calling 911 and not to approach the individuals.
