A man suffered life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon in Woodstock after a bicycle accident and had to be flown to the hospital, fire officials said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 4:38 p.m. Friday to Calhoun Street and Jefferson Street in Woodstock.

Dispatchers received a 911 call for an unconscious person who had reportedly fallen from a bicycle at the intersection.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived and found a man lying in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries, officials said.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was called to land at the Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital landing pad.

An ambulance transported the man to the landing pad and the helicopter flew the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District said that no motor vehicles were involved in the crash. The intersection was closed for approximately 25 minutes.
