A 17-year-old girl was flown to the hospital by helicopter Tuesday afternoon following a crash involving her sedan and a pickup truck in Spring Grove.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3:24 p.m. Tuesday to Wilmot Road and Miller Road in Spring Grove for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a two-vehicle crash involving a 2017 Ford Focus and a Ford F-350 pickup truck, according to McHenry County Sheriff Spokeswoman Sgt. Aimee Knop.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 17-year-old female, was trapped inside her vehicle and injured. Firefighters extricated the woman by removing the roof from her car.

Paramedics transported the 17-year-old girl to nearby McHenry Township Fire Protection District Station #2 at 3710 Johnsburg Road in Johnsburg, where a LifeNet medical helicopter landed.

The flight crew then transported the girl to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she remains, Knop said. Her condition has since been stabilized.

The driver of the Ford pickup truck, a 49-year-old man, was treated by paramedics at the scene and released without needing hospital care.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene. The roadway was closed for approximately five hours while they conducted their investigation.

Details about how the crash was caused were not immediately available. Knop said the crash remains under investigation.
