A 67-year-old Mundelein man was arrested and charged for sexually assaulting his juvenile granddaughter at a Mundelein residence, court records allege.
Manuel Nambo, 67, of the 900 block of South Lake Street in Mundelein, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault of a family member under 18 and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member under 18.
A criminal complaint filed in Lake County court said that the incident occurred on the morning of March 13 at a residence in Mundelein.
Nambo allegedly sexually abused and sexually assaulted his granddaughter, who is between the age of 13 and 17, according to the complaint.
The incident was investigated by the Mundelein Police Department, who arrested Nambo and transported him to the Lake County Jail on March 14.
Lake County Associate Judge Jacquelyn Melius ordered Nambo held in the jail on a $350,000 bond following a bond hearing. He will be required to post $35,000 bail in order to be released.
Melius ordered Nambo to have no contact with the victim and refrain from possessing any firearms or dangerous weapons should he post bail.
He will also not be allowed to have any contact with minors under the age of 18.
Nambo has been appointed a public defender. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 7 in front of Lake County Judge Paul Novak.
