A neighbor spotted a house fire in Lake in the Hills and called 911 Monday morning, bringing firefighters to the scene who quickly extinguished the blaze.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 10:53 a.m. Monday to the 0-100 block of West Oak Street in Lake in the Hills.

Battalion Chief John Greene said that a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the roof of a home and called 911.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within six minutes and found a single-story home with smoke coming from the roof.

Crews initiated an aggressive attack into the attic area and the fire was under control in five minutes, Greene said.

The occupants were not home at the time and no firefighters, civilians or pets were injured.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated and a damage estimate was not immediately available.
