Police released new information saying that a 27-year-old man from Crystal Lake who went missing earlier this month boarded a Metra train and traveled to Chicago.
Jon Chung, 27, was last seen on March 16 at his family’s home in the 1600 block of Deerhaven Drive in Crystal Lake.
The family called the police on March 22 to report Chung missing, according to Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Derek Hyrkas.
The Crystal Lake Police Department said they have actively and aggressively investigated the circumstances surrounding Chung’s failure to return home or communicate with his family.
Crystal Lake detectives have been pursuing a number of leads in the search.
On Wednesday, police issued an update and said that they developed information through reviewing video footage that shows Chung boarded a Metra train in Crystal Lake on March 16.
Chung arrived at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago at approximately 4:20 p.m. on March 16.
Crystal Lake police are working with the appropriate authorities in Chicago to determine whether additional video footage exists showing Chung’s movements after he arrived in Chicago.
“We still do not suspect his disappearance was the result of foul play but nonetheless seek the public’s assistance with any information they may be able to provide that will aid in finding Jon Chung,” Hyrkas said.
Family members described Chung as being 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has olive skin, brown eyes and brown and blonde hair.
Police encourage anyone who may have information relating to the whereabouts of Chung to contact the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620.
