McHenry County’s second county-supported vaccination clinic is set to open next week at a church in Crystal Lake, health officials announced.
The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) said that the site will open on Wednesday, April 7.
It will be located at the Willow Creek Community Church, 100 South Main Street in Crystal Lake, and will provide the COVID-19 vaccine to McHenry County residents or those who work at a McHenry County business.
All MCDH clinics are by appointment only and are open to those who are eligible to receive their vaccine. Currently, eligibility in McHenry County includes those in Phases 1A, 1B and 1B plus.
Photo identification is required and those who are a resident of another county but work in McHenry County must show proof of their employment.
Those who want to receive a vaccination at an MCDH-run clinic should look for open appointments by completing a questionnaire and search for open times on the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Registration form.
Those without internet or who need assistance with booking an appointment can call MCDH’s COVID-19 Call Center at 815-334-4045 or the Illinois Department of Public Health’s vaccine scheduling hotline at 833-621-1284.
“We are continuously looking at opportunities to expand the number of vaccination sites to meet the high demand for vaccine in McHenry County,” MCHD Administrator Melissa Adamson said.
“As more vaccine begins to flow into the county, additional locations will open including drive-thru sites,” Adamson said.
There are several other places besides health department sites to receive the vaccine, health officials said.
Those include regional hospital systems, clinics and other community partners who are administering vaccine and may reach out directly to their patients to schedule an appointment.
There are also state and federal partnerships with retail pharmacies in McHenry County. Anyone may enroll at those sites to be vaccinated.
