Police say that four people were taken into custody after a shooting in Waukegan that left one person injured led to a police pursuit into Chicago on Friday.

Illinois State Police Trooper Omoayena Williams said that an alert was broadcasted across the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN) to all area police departments on Friday.

The alert was for officers to be on the lookout for suspects in a vehicle that shot someone in Waukegan around 11:15 a.m. Friday.

Williams said that ISP District Chicago troopers responded around 12:45 p.m. to assist another agency for a vehicle pursuit.

The Highland Park Police Department spotted the vehicle wanted in connection with the shooting and began to chase it.

State police took over the pursuit as it was going through southbound Interstate 94 at Old Orchard Road in Skokie. The Chicago Police Department and other police agencies also assisted.

The chase ended on the off-ramp from Interstate 90 to Keeler Avenue in Chicago. Police arrested four people inside the vehicle.

Williams said that troopers turned over the four subjects to the Waukegan Police Department. It is unclear if any charges have been filed yet.

The Waukegan Police Department has not released any information on the incident.
