The Major Investigations Team was called to investigate after police officers discovered a woman shot at a Lake in the Hills apartment building while responding to a 911 call.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 9 p.m. Friday to an apartment building in the 1300 block of Cunat Court in Lake in the Hills.

Lake in the Hills Police Department Communications Coordinator Ashley Eccles said that officers were dispatched to an unknown medical issue call.

Officers arrived and determined that an adult female had been shot, Eccles said.

The woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital and her condition has been stabilized. The extent of her injuries was not released.

The McHenry County Major Investigations Assistance Team (MIAT) was contacted to assist with the investigation.

“This is an evolving and ongoing investigation,” Eccles said, adding that extra police presence will continue in the area Saturday evening.
