Emergency crews responded on Saturday to a call of a person found shot in the parking lot of a gas station in Gurnee, police said.
The Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 6:29 p.m. Saturday to the BP gas station, 4885 Grand Avenue in Gurnee, for a report of a person shot.
Gurnee Police Department Spokeswoman Shawn Gaylor told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a 911 call was made from the gas station.
The 911 caller reported that there was a gunshot victim in the parking lot, Gaylor said, adding that the actual shooting took place in Waukegan.
Gaylor said that the Waukegan Police Department is handling the case and she did not have any additional information on the incident.
Lake and McHenry County Scanner reached out to the Waukegan Police Department, who has not yet released any details on the shooting.
According to fire radio traffic, paramedics immediately transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The victim was reportedly shot in the leg. Their condition was not immediately known.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a heavy police presence and the victim lying down on the ground in the parking lot.
