Lake County Sheriff’s Canine Dax helped locate a man who fled from a traffic stop and was found hiding in the bushes on Sunday in Mundelein.

The Mundelein Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 900 block of Ridge Avenue in Mundelein around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

An intoxicated person inside the vehicle fled the scene away from officers on foot, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy John Forlenza and Canine Dax were called to the scene.

Dax immediately began a track that lasted approximately 10 minutes before he found the suspect.

Dax went behind the fence line to find the man hiding in the bushes, Covelli said.

Officers took the man into custody and transported him to the Mundelein Police Department.

Covelli said he did not have any information regarding possible charges against the suspect.
