A man whose boat capsized on the Fox River in Algonquin was quickly rescued from the water by firefighters Friday afternoon, officials said.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Algonquin Police Department responded around 1:06 p.m. Friday to the intersection of North Harrison Street and Algonquin Road for a report of a person in distress in the water.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Battalion Chief John Greene said a nearby resident called 911 after seeing a man in the water yelling for help.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes and observed a person holding onto their capsized boat.

The victim was in the water toward the east bank of the Fox River, Greene said.

Firefighters quickly entered the water and removed the victim. The victim was then brought into an ambulance to warm up.
