A man was unconscious and not breathing following a dirt bike crash near Woodstock and had to be flown by a medical helicopter to the hospital Sunday evening, officials said.

The Woodstock Fire Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:32 p.m. Sunday to the 1500 block of Rose Farm Road, which is north of Route 14 in Woodstock, for a report of a dirt bike accident.

The 911 caller told dispatchers that the victim was reportedly unconscious and undergoing CPR, according to the Woodstock Fire Rescue District.

A Mercyhealth REACT medical helicopter was requested to land at the Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital helipad.

First responders arrived at the scene and located a dirt bike and the victim approximately 400 yards off of Rose Farm Road in a field.

The fire district said that the male victim suffered various life-threatening injuries following the crash.

The victim was assessed and transported by ambulance to the Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital helipad where the medical helicopter was waiting.

The flight crew transported the man to Javon Bae Hospital – Riverside in Rockford where he remains in critical condition.

It is unknown how the crash occurred or what the dirt bike crashed into.

The incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
